There is so much I could say about this book. It is a good read, you are a good author, you had me from the prologue, and very hard to put down, but since I am on a Kindle, it would always shut down on the most riveting parts, like was Olivia pregnant? Just to name one. Anyway, this book was riveting, humorous, compelling, dramatic, eye opening, and should be read by those of us who suffer from clinical depression, those of us who ha bcc e friends and family who suffer from bipolar, by all who have misconceptions of depression, by all to understand an illness that for years has been hidden or just ignored or doctors just giving meds thinking that b it would clear all, but scary how little GP doctors understand depression and the medications available. Thanks for your books, Danny, I will be ordering your four part series on depression and look forward to your sequel to this book. I will recommend this book to all on Facebook and personally. I too have bipolar depression. I too used to want to die. These books were cause for me to remember why I chose happiness. The sections about depression and PTSD were well written and the book were actually full of hope. Must reading for mentally ill people and their caretakers.
this was tough to finish, but there was no way I could not. it hit every nerve in me. I've fought depression most of my life, and this was just an amazing story of the peaks and valleys of the illness.
This book helped to explain the inner-workings of the mind of someone who has taken their life by suicide. I found that I could imagine my own son who did due by suicide in September 2017, having many of the same thoughts and inner conversations his last few years of life. My son died at the age of 23 and never shared his struggles with anyone.
As someone who suffers from depression it was nice to find a book that I could relate to on such a deep level. I recommend this book to anyone who suffers or has a loved one who suffers from depression.
This was almost too painful to read. There was so much that would be helpful to anyone who is depressed or knows someone who is. I've known someone who was bipolar and the struggles are mind blowing.
Having many of the same issues as the main character, Jimmy, I can identify 100%. Depression does not have any prejudice about who it strikes. Jimmy's grows and battles the disease throughout this book and it is a very good read. It does have some sexual content.
I loved the story and could easily relate to Jimmy, as I struggle with perfectionism myself at times. Though I do not suffer from clinical depression myself, some of my friends and family members do. Jimmy's thoughts about himself and his situation gave me insight into what people with depression are going through, and helped me understand how a person could reach the point of wanting nothing more than to kill himself. I also loved the way the book dealt with the topic of stigma surrounding depression, down to the type of conversation Jimmy has with his friends to educate them about his illness. That part of the book is helpful both to educate people without mental illness and to give those with depression encouragement to as well as specific suggestions for how to open up to friends and family members about what they are going through.
